Journal Quilt Explorations - Watercolor Heart Quilt Class w/Carol
Join Carol as she walks you through making a watercolor quilt using special 2" grid fusible interfacing. You will be building a heart wall hanging just in time for Valentine's Day! If you can cut 2" squares and sew a straight line, this class is for you.
After you've learned the basic technique, you can expand it to other projects; such as, wreaths, cute animals, etc. You can even get a larger grid interfacing and make even bigger gridded designs. The sky is the limit!!
Imagine the one pictured below with 6" fusible grid interfacing - add a few borders and you'd have a Quilt of Valor!

| Requirements: | Fabric: For Heart: At least 6-8 red fabrics (scraps & 1/8th yard pieces work great) You'll need less than 1/4 yard in total of your variety of reds. For Background: At least 6-8 cream/white fabrics, totaling less than 1/4 yard as above. Outer Frame Fabric: Another 6-8 fabrics totaling approximately 1/4 yard Transition Fabric: At least 3-4 fabrics work well *Gridded Fusible Interfacing: 3/4-yard piece of 1 1/2" finished (2" unfinished) fusible square interfacing. Binding: 5/8 yard (See Class Handout for more information regarding fabric choices) Sewing machine with manual, in good working order *Rotary cutter and mat *6” x 24” Clear Acrylic Ruler *Creative Grids Stripology Slotted Ruler – (optional, but very handy!) *Small ruler, at least 2”x2”, to trim half-square triangle units Thread – neutral Stiletto or That Purple Thang Basic sewing supplies, i.e. scissors, pins, seam ripper *Craft Iron *Teflon pressing sheet or parchment paper *Design wall or flannel sheet, at least 25”x25” – (a flannel-backed vinyl tablecloth works really well!) |
