English Paper Piecing Basics Class with Linda
It’s fun. It’s portable. And it can be amazingly beautiful! English paper piecing is a traditional hand-stitching technique of quilt-making using paper templates. In this class you will learn the basics of EPP and make blocks using hexagons and stars, which you can later use to make small quilts or begin a larger quilt.
We’ll start by discussing tools and then we will look at the extensive variety of shapes and different methods for creating blocks. You will learn techniques for placing the fabric over the shapes and how to stitch them together. We'll also talk about how to fussy cut your fabric so your blocks will be fun and interesting.
All paper pieces are provided.

| Requirements: | 28 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" squares of fabric Coordinate your fabrics or go scrappy--you'll have enough papers to make four 1-inch hexagon flowers. Batiks are NOT recommended. 12 5" x 5" squares for the star block You will have enough papers for two star blocks *Scissors *Snips or small Scissors A basting needle (use whatever needle you like for basting papers) *A comfortable needle for hand sewing. Linda suggests a 9 or 10 milliner's needle so your stitching will not show *Needle Threader Thread to match your fabrics Linda suggests 50 or 60 wt thread and loves Aurifil *Glue Pen Linda suggests the Sewline Glue Pen as they are easy to use and available at the Shop. Elmer's Washable Glue Stick is an option, but it makes basting more challenging. If you choose Elmer's, be sure to purchase the washable glue stick.
